Self-sufficiency

 

  • Owner Occupied Home Renovation assists county-wide low-to-moderate income homeowners to help them make their homes safe, sanitary and more energy efficient.
  • Mobile Home Repairs serves low-income, disabled, or elderly to obtain repairs for their mobile homes.  Governmental assistance for this program is excluded since these homes are not on permanent foundations.
  • Upson House assists families in transitional housing situations to acquire more stable, long-term rentals or homeownership programs within 2 years.
  • Weatherization kits to educate families and reduce energy bills for families.

  • Mobile Meals provides meals Monday through Friday to any resident over 60 years of age and accommodates for special diet needs prescribed by client’s doctor.
  • Weekend & Emergency Meals for clients who are unable to prepare their own meal or don’t have any one who can prepare it for them.
  • Handicapped Accessible Van Transportation is available to all senior citizens in Kosciusko County and provides door to door assistance.  In addition, individuals under 60 in need of handicap transportation can be accommodated.
  • In-home Services offers seniors minimal assistance with caring for their homes including cleaning, small repairs of inside and outside of their homes.

  • Project Independence is designed to help clients change their lives by helping them move from poverty and dependence upon the social welfare system to independence and self-sufficiency by one-on-one long term mentoring in many areas. Combined Community Services   574-269-6019

 

  • Teens ‘N Tots provides the avenue for student parents to complete their high school education.  In doing so, they are more likely to continue with higher education and be more likely self supportive.

  • One-on-One Tutoring for Adult Learners is designed to reach the functionally illiterate, including those for whom English is not their native language, and teach them to read and write.

  • Blood Services seeks to attract donors at various locations throughout the county who can make blood donations utilized to treat trauma, surgery and disease patients requiring blood products.
  • Water Safety Education is designed to teach the public safety techniques in swimming and life saving.
  • Public Health Education and Awareness is to increase the awareness of health hazards and to educate the public in disease prevention measures and techniques.

  • Children’s Clinic provides free, routine, preventative checkups and educational health care to children age two months to eighth grade for low-income families.
